“Ikara Sunset Flight”
The western edge of Wilpena Pound is an amazing place at sunset; many afternoons have been spent watching the colours change on the range behind. The aboriginal name for this place is Ikara, meaning "meeting place" as inside the Pound is a natural amphitheatre, a perfect place for an artist to meet with nature. I've painted this area many times and love to include some of the native birdlife, an Adelaide Rosella fly's by to roost for the approaching night.
